WayneI was raised in a cultural ancestor worship family and was influenced by Malaysia’s Eastern gullible education system. Moving to a foreign land of New Zealand in 1995 as a teenager without parents exposed me to Christianity of different kinds. After being persuaded by my charismatic classmate belonging to a cult movement, I was deceived into baptism without understanding the gospel. Not long after, again, without the gospel being preached to me or anyone confirming my saving faith in Jesus Christ, I was baptized in a Malaysian Chinese Methodist Church under the influence of peers.

In 1997, I attended a gospel rally where the speaker was a former Taiwanese professional assassin turned pastor. His testimony and gospel sharing left me convicted of my sins. For the first time, I confessed I was a sinner in need of a Savior to save me from my sins. I repented and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

Twenty-three years later, only during my theological study at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in the US (2019-2022) did I understand and be convinced of the believer’s baptism. I did not pursue baptism by immersion back then because of the church (a pedobaptist) I would pastor after my graduation. Thanks be to God, by His providence, I was led to Shore Baptist Church in May 2024, through whom I can be baptized on 20 October 2024 in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Praise the Lord!
