Growing up in a Christian home, I went to a church camp before I began primary education, here I came to believe that I am a sinner, but Jesus has died for my sins and rose again. I was joyful at the fact that my sins were forgiven, and I realized how important to spread the gospel and I decided to give my life to Jesus. I wanted to please God. From then, I kept reading the bible and came to be certain of what God has done to me. Also, in high school, when I served in the music team in a Korean church, we were singing about God’s love toward us, and it was this moment that I came to once again realise and experience his unchanging love.
However, as I grew up older, I thought that I was not good enough, I believed that salvation was only for the righteous people. I was feeling guilty of myself, thinking if I was worthy of being called a child of God and that I lacked good works. But arriving to Shore Baptist Church and listening to sermons, I learnt the true gospel.
Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
I came to realise that I am never good enough and is born as a sinner, but it is only through God’s grace that I am saved. That when I put my faith in Jesus Christ, he saves me totally, that even though I might sin and repent, the sacrifice of Christ has paid for my sins. So, there is assurance that he has saved me. I am reconciled to God through Jesus’s virtue and merit. I am saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to his scripture alone, all for the glory of God alone.
Now, there is no reason or doubts in me to not get baptized, and I want to get baptized to show my faith in Jesus Christ.
